Vacuum Hose Management

A few people have asked about the way I handled my vacuum hose with my XXL Cabinet. One thing I noticed on most cabinet designs is that with a short ceiling height it is difficult to suspend the hose from the top with enough free movement to allow for the XXL work area.

After not having issues attaching my router power to the outside of my chain I decided to try supporting the vacuum hose in the same manner. Although this does require the right type of hose, if it is light weight and flexible it seemed to work pretty well.

I quickly cut out some hose clips designed to zip tie to the back of the chain. These clips hold the hose and the router’s power cord. You will see in the one picture that I tapped some 10-24 screws in the the top of the X-Axis Rail to help keep the chain in place. These can only be on the left side…

The only issue I’ve had with the hose is with the excess hose on the side of the machine as it expands and contracts when the vacuum is switched on or off. It hasn’t caused a operation issue, but will need addressed to make this complete.

That’s a fantastic idea. And you are now the (only?) owner of a Snakeoko !

Brad,
Thanks for the cut file for your clamps, they work perfectly.

Where did you find the hose?

I bought the same from Amazon. 10’ length I think.

Where did you get the hose clamps? Did you cut them? If so do you have a file you can provide. I like this set up and would like to try it out.

Here is the CC File for the Vac Hose clips.VacHoseClamp_4-25x9-5_Full6.c2d (590.5 KB)

I used 1/2" HDPE
