What did you cut on your Shapeoko/ Nomad today?

The link is up in my description. If you have any questions on how to use it send me a message and I’ll try to help out. It’s pretty straight forward. I had to give it a couple of tries but the final STL files import very cleanly into CC. Just make sure you adjust the Z-heights in the 3d section to your wood height.

You could try PVC instead of HDPE for a cheaper alternative. The oil would probably stain it though.

The company I used to work for had a similar program. They decided it was costing them too much money so the changed to giving out T-Shirts for a good idea.

Downdraft table for my wife for when she is sanding HDU (or anything). Don’t ask how it works yet because I just took it downstairs and I still have a few more steps before completion. But I have dust collector I inherited from my mom’s father that we will use. That is on the other side of that wall there so noise will be reduced. Praying it works better than we expect.

    Sounds like something the one I worked for would do

I looked at pvc. I can get it black. Staining isn’t the issue. My issue is how flexible it is and warping overtime combined with picking up the tray loaded and it folding in with the weak points I have made.

Glue two 1/2” layers together.

I don’t get out much but thats a cool idea…downdraft sanding table… hmmmm… put an 3 sided enclosure on it and dust would be cut down significantly.

Dang, I missed it first time. Thank you!!

Well it works. I need to add some spark plug holes. Will work for now. Once it falls apart I’ll make one out of plastic.

Where do you source your HDU materials?

BlueRidge Sign Supply.
If you live closer to a larger metro area than me you may find other options. No one near me that I can find stocks it.

Looks good, how much vertical exaggeration did you use?

I think in the end I went with 3x. I output 1, 2, and 3x and really liked all of the contrasting heights with the extra Z-exaggeration. There were some features that were indistinguishable without the 3X.

First part on the HDM V3, making use of the front fixturing already. Motor mount for the tool post spindle I’m building for my lathe.

Move the cams to the outside.

@bgk

That a serious machine! Nice project.

Will there be another bearing assembly on the outboard end of the lathe shaft? If not what is the max diameter material you intend to turn?

Wow. Nice finish on that, is that done just with the milling?

Wow! It came out very very nice! :+1:

This isn’t a main lathe spindle for turning the workpiece - it’s a spindle that will drop onto the quick-change toolpost on my lathe, so I can mill keyways, drill hole patterns, do grinding, etc. on the lathe. The business end takes ER16 collets.

@bpedit I started with a precision ground flat plate of aluminum the correct thickness, so the surface finish on the large flat faces is how the stock came. I didn’t do any hand-finishing though, the milled features came off the machine like that
