Width of Border " lines "

Hey good people, it’s been a minute. So here I am back with another question.
I have been on a Color Core kick which is really awesome.
Lately I have been getting into faux LED Neon imbedding into Acrylic. It’s a game changer.

Biggest issue I am currently having is if I make a border around text, a rectangle if you will.
How can I change the width of the boundry? If I use a 1/8th bit it’s 1/8th wide. I can vary the width by playing with the offsets. But is it possible to set the width other than the bit size?

Thanks

Steve

I guess I should read the whole text before answering…
What if you offset the border by whatever width you want and cut a pocket?

So do the line and offset by the needed distance? I thought offset moves of from the centerline either inside or outside. It also can be used to widen?

Thanks

Steve

The offset creates another vector so you grab both vectors and pocket cut between them

I’m not quite sure I follow But I’ll try it. So far using a 1/8 with no offset, and outside right is fitting the led strip well, But for text I might need different thicknesses.

Thanks Jeff

No problem… select the vector you want to make wider than the endmill diameter. Then go to “Transform” menu and click on “Offset Vectors”. An Offset widow pops up and you select how far from the original vector you want your offset vector to be and do you want it inside or outside the original vector. Then click “Apply”. Now in the design view you select both vectors then go to toolpaths and select a pocket cut.

Is this in carbide create? Sounds good Ill check it out.

If I’m doing text, can you make it narrower ?

Steve

Yes it’s in CC. You can offset any vector you want as long as there’s room either inside it or around the outside of it. For text “Convert to curves” after you create the text so its a vector. Play around with it and you will see how it works

For cutting text, the technique at:

may help.
