Hi, I am new to the carbide3d community. I just bought my 5 Pro. One very positive selling point was that four 30 minute one-on-one sessions with the Carbide folks is available to me. I am interested to know what topics were covered in these sessions by other Carbide customers. Thanks, - Nelson
You tell the trainer what you need help with, there is not a specific āhow toā session. I would recommend following some of the basic training videos that are available and then try and work up your first projects. When you get stumped on something, then you can schedule a training session and let them know what the specific topic you need help with. I have had one with node editing and will probably use another one for 3d modeling.
Thanks John, I appreciate your response.
Iām a new 5 Pro owner as well. I understood it the same way. The sessions are open ended and the customer sets the agenda generally speaking. I havenāt used any yet because a lot of my planned questions got answered working with support to troubleshoot issues - topic for another time. The training videos help, but theyāre showing their age, i.e. older machines and software versions. When I hit a wall with those this forum answered a lot of my getting started questions. It depends what your background is.
I will note that there are currently:
which should match current versions in all meaningful ways ā let me know if there are any updates or corrections or improvements which should be made.
More general, but arguably more useful there is:
which most notably has a glossary and should serve as a useful guide and reference for anyone using any machine and any software.
Re: improvements or updatesā¦I should clarify what I found dated wasnāt the software training but the machine assembly for Shapeoko Pro 5. Both the manual and this video didnāt correspond to how the machine was shipped to me about a month ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTCfOFutMzc
Thereās a few comments there about this (not from me). The big thing that hung me up was the gantry harness doesnāt come pre-installed from the factory anymore but video and text guides havenāt been updated for that. I think there was a 1 page addendum about this buried in the box I didnāt find until the end. A first time CNC assembler can easily get lost. I also thought a lot more guidance on squaring the table before the wiring was called for.
Anyone who has difficulties should check in with support. Let us know about any sort of issue there, and we will do our best to look into it. While I helped out on the docs for the SO2, I canāt speak to later versions.
Thank you. - N. De Leon
