How to stretch or shrink objects with out altering some of the parts

Hello. I am trying to figure how to make a fairly complex object in different dims.
So i have a box with magnet holes and hinges in it. I want to make the exact box in other sizes . When i just stretch the object it changes everything so im guessing there is a way in nodes but i cant seem to figure it out.
Does anyone know of a way to do this ?

Carbide Create Pro does not have a direct feature for this — for doing that sort of thing in a natural fashion you will want a parametric program as discussed at the end of:

That said, one can do this in a couple of steps by working with the available tools — either scale everything up asymmetrically, then select distorted elements and re-size them to undo the distortion, or duplicate the elements, scale it, then position the originals of any distorted elements so as to replace the latter.

If you’ll upload your file and let us know what you wish to do we should be able to look into this with you.

Thank you for the advice! I am using the method you suggest as of now but its really clunky and a lot of room for error. Can I put in a suggestion for a stretch command to be added to CC? or is this just a really hard think to program?

The programming is doable — the problem is the interface — another consideration is that we sell a program which works thus:

so if you want to work parametrically, our current, official recommendation would be to buy that.

In addition to the above discussion also see:

which has another video.

If you can line up the outside dimensions of your object on the grid, then ‘Node Edit’ , may be able to help.

I just faked up something that looks like a lid - has a lip and room for two hinges:

Select everything and use ‘Node Edit’:

Now Multi-Select all the nodes right of center:

They will change to small black boxes. Grab one of the outside corners, and drag rightwards to a new grid point:

Done!

Moving on the grid makes sure you only get left-right movement, so the object isn’t skewed.
