I try to make these
(the designer and maker Paul Joshua Schneider from Munich -he turns them on a lathe- agreed that I can make those on a CNC), so I made a DXF-file after the contour of the queen.
But I fail to get a 3d-file from it.
queen.dxf (114.1 KB)
Could one of you show me for dummies how?

My understanding is it may be that a future version of Carbide Create Pro will be able to do this sort of thing:
Beyond the nerd-desire to make everything text/code-based, rather than GUI-based, what’s the goal? (As a nerd myself, I understand that might be the goal in and of itself) I love Rhino, but once you sweep the curves in anything but Fusion/Solidworks/etc., they’re no longer parametric in the sense that the 3D object is not linked to the curve anymore.
I ask because we’re planning to elevate the 3D capabilities in Carbide Create Pro, and sweeps/revolves are part of that. We’re trying to take o…
Until features for this are put in place, you will need a 3D CAD tool such as:
or a 3D programming tool such as OpenSCAD, or a great deal of patience using Carbide Create:
Given a prototype base:

How to make it in Carbide Create?
First, we have a pixel image with some dimensions:
[F-86 base scan with measurements]
We import that into Carbide Create:

using “Set Background”:

and adjust for size:

It’s then a matter of drawing and toolpaths and so forth (we will try to do it w/o Create Pro, but will also show that).
For reference, there is an overhead view as well:

Didn’t we do this already?
In my downloads folder I have:
and:
which it was made from.

I added my dxf to the post before. I talked once to the designer, he agreed that I make them on a CNC, and I promised I would get his judgment about the pieces before I even consider them done.

Need some tutoring how to make a semi 3d project. I think I saw it somewhere, but cannot find it.
(I talked to the artist who designed these pieces, and he gave me allowance to do so, if I succeed I will present him my result, and maybe he agrees to sell the items. Would make me proud, so far it is the nicest set of chess pieces, nicest design, I ever sa…
@Tod1d showed a technique for doing the queen in Carbide Create which was quite clever.

OMG! That far ago already. I probably could have used the search function better. Thank you all anyway!
