Inverting the carve on advanced v-carve

I am working on a fire department logo with letters in it. I want the letters to be v-carved but they were actually being v-carved around. I added an extra border .5" around the logo and this inverted the carve tricking the software into v-carving the actual letters.
My question is when you want to invert the v-carve but do not want to add another border can you add a tiny border of maybe .001" to make the invert and if so should the extra border be inside or outside the log and how large? does .001" work?

Thanks, Kyle

Unfortunately, Carbide Create does not support such prismatic lettering.
