Mystery bolts/screws

A job finished last night and there were a few parts laying on the table.
Several of them I know are from the dust boot, but 1 small screw I’m not sure about.

I think it goes in the bottom of the Z assembly. I found the exact same screws on the top of the assembly (noting was was 1/2 way back at as well.

Took my phone to look at the bottom and can see 2x holes with threads in them (exactly opposite the ones on top). So guessing it’s from there. I have 1 of the screws. Any Ideas on where to easily pick up another.

Looks to be about 5mm long and have a 2.5 hex top.

One of these kits might have what you need. The kit I purchased a couple years back has saved my bacon a few times.

It’s an M4 panhead which covers the oil port.

Since you found the oil ports on the linear rail bearings, might be a good time to get some oil and a syringe and learn how to re-lubricate them whilst you’re putting the oil port screws back in place.

In the meantime, it might be an idea to cover the port up with something to avoid crud getting into it.

This post gives a good overview of how to do it.

Check the bottom of your dust collector with a magnet
you may get lucky.

I had the same thought. I should give the ol’ girl an oiling while dinking with this stuff. I am going to take the top 2 screws, move them to the bottom and put tape over the top ones until I get some replacement screws.

I do believe they now ship with a little bottle of oil and a few pipets. Which is nice.

Sounds like a plan, the bolts are just plugs for the little oil reservoir in the end cap of the block so yep tape would be fine to keep crud out. When you get spare bolts, make sure they’re the same length as it’s just plastic in there.

Here’s an old post with some pics of the insides of a similar block to give a better idea of what you’re squirting the oil into.
