Hello all, happy to be involved in another maker community. I have a long time IT background and a long time woodworking building and construction background and I’ve done a bunch of other crazy things, including working making weapons for the government where I was first exposed to CNC machines years ago. I am from Southern Maine and recently bought an open builds 1010 machine, supposedly assembled by someone who knew what they were doing, but I have found some issues already. Nothing major, just missing limit switches, etc. as you know, open builds has shut down, but being as where it was just hardware, I figured I would use Carbide create V6, which I had dabbled with for another project a while ago. As I mentioned, I’m running the open builds on a rather robust bed that is roughly 50 x 55“ and using the black box interface combo. What I would really like is to find someone who has experience with this who I can make an arrangement with to make some FaceTime calls and answer some questions and help me get this thing up and running full speed. Right now I only intend to use it for parts that I create for a local company. What are all your thoughts on this set up and my situation in wanting support, etc is there a better avenue for that?. As I am someone who really appreciates and values their time – thank you for your time. if you are still reading, I have the machine powered up and have run it without a bit through some pre-programmed jobs on the interface itself. All motion functions, etc. seem to work fine. Being as where they were a couple limit switches missing I could not just Home all but I was able to zero all axis, etc… I’m running a year or two old Windows 10 laptop with Carbide create V6 and the openbuilds control software.
Welcome to the Forum. I’m not all that familiar with OpenBuilds other than I believe that their motion software only accepts G-Code files. If CC V6 exports G-Code, I can’t remember if it does, all you’ll need to do is select the correct Post Processor in CC and you should be good to go. OpenBuilds has a CAM package available that may work better for that machine.

We are not likely to be able to assist with 3rd party hardware, and Carbide Create v6 is years out-of-date and unsupported.
