So…is it just me or is it known that Files I created with CC back in 2020 no longer seem to work with the latest CC?
There have been some updates, and these posts provide a clearer explanation than a lengthy description from me.
Hey thanks @Woodcrafter I really appreciate it.
Short version
- If you are using Ver 8, everything 3D in previous versions is gone. Best you can do is use an older version to export a heightmap and rebuild your project from there.
- Ver 8 will open Ver 7 files.
- For Ver 6 files, open and resave in Ver 7, then re-open in Ver 8 and save.
I’ve never really gotten into anything 3d so I guess all my stuff was just basic flat designs in v7, but I’m getting blank pages when I try to open in v8
you know what, I really cant tell what version the file is, it’s not like I wrote it in the file name, but I can see the dates were back in 2020…I wonder if those are actually version 6 files?
You can check them in a text editor — if they are JSON code, then they are v6.
Or, just open in v7, resave w _v7 added to the filename, then open that file in v8.
ok, I got one open in Notepad, whats a good Find/Search I could use to see the version? I already tried “version” and nothing came up
That’s a GCode file, not a CC project file.
interesting. All I did was right click on the NC file and chose to open with Notepad, so I’m not sure what’s going on, but it was definitely saves and created with CC and CM as that’s all I’ve ever had lol
Ok I found this in a file “build_num”: 464 super old huh?
