C2d file not opening in latest build of Carbide Create

I have a c2d file created in build 652 of Carbide Create. It opens correctly in that version, but when I try opening the same file in the latest build (813) only a blank document appears. I tried drag/drop as well as File/Open… but the document contents appears to be ignored on load. Is the new version not backwards compatible with older c2d files?

How to convert a v7 3D file to v8

As noted at: https://carbide3d.com/blog/create-v8/ from “Breaking Changes” Files from prior versions will not load 3D components in V8.
