I have been asked to make a wall mounted, 5 rifle rack for a friend. My skills are not at the point to design myself. I haven’t been able to find a file to do so. Anyone know of one?
A variation of:
If you have difficulties, upload a sketch and dimensions and we will walk through it with you.
I am going to try to walk through drawing this in Alibre at:
at the end of that process, I should have a series of DXF files which may be imported — if I crash and burn there, I’ll come back here and just hard-code it in Carbide Create.
Horizontal, vertical, with drawers. Maybe google “5 rifle wall rack” and pick one you like & post it so we have a better idea of what you want.
Here’s a plan for a 3 gun rack that could be expanded to 5
Something similar to this but for 5 guns. WillAdams posted above an oar design. I like the dimensioning on that but at this point could not master creating it or altering it to work
First, Job Setup:
Rough estimate is 5" x 30" for the sides, 1/2" thick stock should suffice:
First, draw a circle:
and set the radius to a suitable size:
Then make a Linear Array:
with suitable settings:
Group Vectors:
Align Vectors:
to center of Stock:
OK
Draw a line:
Done:
rotate it 45 degrees:
Done
and drag it into alignment with a Midpoint:
Repeat for the other edge:
Select both:
and repeat the Linear Array:
OK
Draw the perimeter rectangle:
Select everything:
and use the New Region Builder to define what one wants to cut:
Yes
Done
Move everything else to a separate layer:
Rather than leave the sharp edges, best to round things off a bit:
The default of 0.5" is a bit much, but 0.25" seems workable:
OK
Then assign a suitable toolpath:
If necessary add tabs, or rotate to fit on one’s machine bed.
Here’s a modified version of the oar rack, widened to a 1x6 (3/4 x 5 1/2) x 36"
The drawer layer can be used, or just the drawer front can be fastened to the sides like the drawing. I expanded the slots to be 6" apart to make more room for rifles.

I appreciate the help. This is exactly what I was looking for. But the right side doesn’t line up flush or is that just optical illusion?
It’s at a small angle. That’s the way the oar rack was designed.
With my limited skills is there a way to “stretch” those pieces to the same X coordinate as the others in the program you shared? I used to be a CNC programmer and machinist, and used to use cad cam programs in that, but that was in the 90’s. A lot has changed since then, but I still have the basic knowledge and understand the lingo when necessary.
And, thanks for all your help
I made some 3 and 4 gun racks a few years ago. I will include a CC file for 3, 4 and 5 gun. My design are the two sides and I used the same material to attach the two sides together with pocket screws. Dowels, biscuits or domino loose tenons would work as well as traditional mortise and tenon.
Most walls in the US are 16 inches on center for the studs. So I added hangers at the 16" centers.

You will need to go in and edit your material thickness and your origin. It will different from what I used. The 4 and 5 gun is just one side so you can cut it twice or copy and paste and cut it once from a larger piece of stock.
The 3 gun rack was for me and the 4 gun rack was for my Grandson. The engraving on the cross bars is optional and I dont think I had that in the files. I had made those in previous versions of CC so I opened it and saved it in v8 of CC.
I have my .22 caliber rifles shown here. I have since turned them over (upright) due to concerns about the scopes being upside down.
The cross bars are about 18" long. I really do not remember but you can see the heavy duty hangers at 16" and about an inch on each side. Have your friend measure his rifles and adjust as necessary. He might have an antique musket rifle that is very long or maybe a short barreled rifle to hang up.
Adjusted to same width…
