I finally finished the project that I started discussing in this thread:
I trashed one $80 piece of material so had to order another 1/2” piece of ColorCore and pay $24 for shipping. The original piece was messed up on one side due to my brain fart and the other side had a slight X shift near the end of the project. I studied the paths over and over and could not find a reason for the shift so I decided to just give it another go and was super careful about each step.
The customer originally wanted the carved portion to be 36” wide but I talked him into changing that slightly so I didn’t have to tile. The material is 23.75x35.75.
It turned out pretty good. But there was a slight height difference in the right side of the W in BW. It’s uglier in person than in the photo but I haven’t found a way to make it better. This photo shows the problem spot up close.
I have tried scraping with a fingernail, dental tool, xacto blade, etc…
I think the material was slightly bowed up and my Xfasten double sided tape didn’t get adhered sufficiently.
