Bonus points if you can see the stupid thing I did in this picture. Just had to fix it. Most likely only someone who has built a 5 will notice.
You installed the back support to the last two holes instead of the next to the last two holes?
If thatâs what you did - I donât blame you. I actually called the support desk when I was faced with more holes than supports - and the manual doesnât help (the photo is bad too). So, if thatâs what you did - donât feel too bad â not stupid â natural (or Iâm naturally stupid).

I did the same thing on mine, I set the front and back to set the rails up off the table. Started the first screw and looked again and thought âthats not rightââŚâŚ
Yep. That was it. I didnât realize it until I went to put the back legs on. Moving just that back piece caused me to have to resquare for some reason.
Does that back set of holes have a purpose?
It holds the wire loom keepers for the proximity switches and stepper motors on my 5.0.
I have the 5.0 version. That is one serious under structure !
I think I see the âlift kitâ for the Z height.
You are going to like this unit.
Yep. I added the riser blocks out of the gate.
Guess Iâve been out of the game for some time. I didnât know Simon made detents now. Feel free to share more zoomed out pics. Always wanted a CCI myself but I only ever got to play pump or stock class occasionally so I couldnât justify it.
I have riser blocks that I made for mine as well, but just havenât picked up the longer bolts needed for the risers to go in.
Cut some 1mm thick mother of pearl for some inlay. A bit of moon:
Fixtured with wax. Cut fully submerged with a 2fl 1mm carbide mill.
The water does a good job keeping the hazardous dust down and nothing cracked, flaked, or fractured.
Havenât posted in a bit, but time to share a latest project. Iâm driving east to visit family and friends soon, and asked my mom what I could make for her. I have a sculpture of herons I bought years ago, and she asked me to make something based on that sculpture.
I took photos of the birds individually, and used AI to create line art which was then imported into Carbide Create and I started working the design.
As I was working this project, a neighbor asked me to make a housewarming gift for a family member. He saw the work in progress and we went with a modified design of the same thing to save time (10 day turnaround overall).
I started cutting partsâŚ
I like to work a mix of wood and epoxy resin - especially when adding lettering.
There were plenty of âpucker momentsâ during the processâŚ
In the end, it came out gorgeous and the neighbor couldnât have been happier!
Thatâs gorgeous. Great job.
I cut mine in a bath like that as well although mine is plexiglass. Nice clean cut.
Wow! How do you get the wavelike texture in the epoxy?
Absolutely fantastic result!
Yeah, WGP style detents but the Revolution needs them bad. I do lots of work on/ for the original Phantom, and keep hemming and hawing and saving for either an HDM or, now, an N4.
Some more photos of that CCI job, then another project to ensure my wife still likes that I have a CNC.
I used 3 colors of mica powder - turquoise, okinawa blue, and deep sea blue. As I poured the colors I allowed some slight overlap of horizontal stripes of color. As epoxy is curing, I run a wooden toothpick side to side in a wave pattern to get the effect.
The tricky part is that you canât trust the epoxy to stay in place, it ârollsâ as it cures. You have to keep an eye on it and touch it up until it gets to a plastic state.
I had purchased some yo-yo kits from penn state industries like 2 years ago, and while I have a CNC lathe, Iâm still learning it and I wanted to do a gift for my buddy who is pretty big into Porsche.
The inspiration ^
Cutting aluminum on the nomad 3
Tires made out of wenge
The pieces all lined up
My buddy decided to paint the aluminum blue
He also put gun stock oil on the wood.
Finished result
I modeled it up in fusion. Going to run a second one, and did some slight changes based on feedback after the first.
Awesome work! Your mix of woods and epoxies is incredible! Impressive!
Amazing, well done. Beautiful
