Bit Zero with 60 Deg Vee bit

How do I use my bit zero with Vee bits?

You really shouldn’t for X-Y probing. It’s fine for Z.

For X-Y probing you should use a straight mill, or (preferred) the straight ‘pins’ that come with the BitZero.

If you have a BitSetter, then use a straight pin and probe to the BitZero, then Change Tool to the VBit (or do it when CM asks you to).

If you do not have a BitSetter, then use a straight pin to probe X-Y, then change to the V Bit and probe for Z only. It will remember the X-Y from the previous probe.

Hi,
Great but what do you use if the start point is ‘center’? I have used a V bit, to point the X-Y and Z and not yet had issues. From a corner start with the BitSetter, I 100% agree with the 0.25 pin.
So am I totally wrong using the V bit?
That was a good question Michael, Thanks

Using a V tool for the zero at Center works well when setting the zero visually as shown at:

It’s not a good idea when setting the origin for X and/or Y with a BitZero due to tool rotation changing the results (which is why using a probing pin is recommended).
