I watched a video where someone had a remote for the JOG functionality for the Shapeoko and saw another person with a mounted Raspberry Pi to the top of the controller lid on the side.
I purchased the remote, then I realized someone is probably running Motion on a Raspberry Pi instead of a Mac (like me) with a Touch Screen and a remote - or the remote can be used in another OS in the same way I just witness on some YouTubez.
Just asking to see if my assumptions are right - that the remote is just a computer accessory, and the Raspberry Pi is just ONE of many scenarios in which the remote can help with JOG of bits to use the BitZero and BitSetter?
That is my experience - the remote is an accessory regardless of what’s running your CM software. I bought one a month ago for my 5Pro running on a Windows PC. I can’t imagine not using it now. It’s been great for me when setting zero and otherwise jogging around the workspace. Especially with the 4x4 size workspace. I was only having to move a step or so to get to my laptop before, but when dialing in a zero on the far side of the bed, having the remote over with me has REALLY sped things up. The pc just sees it as another keyboard and using the speed hotkeys (1-4) to increase/decrease the jog steps works like a charm. Plus, my laptop recognizes the touchpad on the remote so I can open the zero dialog and zero while still over at the workpiece. One of my favorite purchases - and probably my favorite for $20.
For the last option, be careful. The keyboard page of their website does show $20.00 for the keyboard, but when you click on the 9-key keyboard, the price is $70.00.
