Is version 449 a limited version?

I am new to CNC. I do not have a machine yet. tonight was my first try at any kind of cad software. so I’m about as much of a noob as one could be.
I downloaded Carbide Create tonight. I am trying to get a feel for the software before I purchase a machine. It seems to me after watching a few of the tutorials, that there is a lot of functionality missing. Right from the get go Job Setup is different. there are not many materials listed to pick from.
As i start to make basic shapes it seems there is a lot that i cannot do. for example i was trying to make a heart shape. I put 2 circles down and tried to make a point from a triangle at the bottom. I could not move the lines to get them to join with the circles.
My thought was to lay it out to get the basic outline then cut out any of the lines that were not part of that out line. After that I was just going to tweak it until it looked half descent.
Watching tutorials didn’t help much because the options available to me are not the same as the person giving the tutorials.
Thank you for any help and or info you can provide

No, Carbdide Create runs in 3 different modes:

  • Free — base functionality will always be free per: Carbide Create Pro- What do you want to see?
  • Demo mode — disable the demo mode: Help | Disable Pro Trial
  • time-limited trial — see: — creating an account will allow a free 14 day (with one grace day, total ~=15) trial. “This trial is fully functional for 14 days so you can generate G-Code and try a full project.”

We are transitioning from calculated feeds and speeds to curated values. Additional materials will be added as they are worked up.See for concepts on this and see the series #MaterialMonday: #MaterialMonday on YouTube for specifics. You should test feeds and speeds in a piece of scrap using the technique at: Go to Help | About | Open Data Directory, then open the carbidecreate/tools directory — custom tools are stored in that in .csv files and may be backed up or saved or transferred to another computer. See: Amana tool library and Adding tools in CC440 and later

For drawing a heart, unfortunately Carbide Create doesn’t have a facility for joining an open line (indicated by being magenta) with closed geometry. Please see: Drawing from a photo in Carbide Create or Draw a basic heart

For a basic drawing overview please see: Let's draw an "ellipse" with new users — very basic tutorial on drawing with the curve tool — also see: Let's Make a B (for anyone)

Thank you I will look at all the information you provided.
About an hour after I posted this, I did find a short tutorial on the current version that helped a lot.
That tutorial and all the links you provided should get me well on my way.

Build 451 is up right now with additional materials added.

Because of the links recommended I am starting to figure things out.
I will do the update tonight.
Thanks for the fast responses.
