Shapeoko 5 Pro Electrical box wiring and placement

I’m just a noob an want to get your experience, tips, and tricks. I would appreciate that.

Finally got the machine initialized, did all the things the screen told me to do and it seems to work great. Probably check the trimming next.

Questions

  1. Do I need to bleed the chiller?

  2. You can see it I have the control box on the right back corner, VFD and Chiiler on the left back corner. VFD seems running great, but would there be signal interference from the chiller fans, etc?

  3. I tied all 120V plug to the a surge protector and use this for on/off. Is this next practice? Would I ruin the individual box that connect to it?

  1. That E button probably should be closer to the computer strand.

  1. Would love to add remote pendant to jog.

Thanks

For the remote pendant, the usual solution is a numeric keypad, for which our keyboard shortcuts are set up:

Some folks will do a custom keyboard of some sort — I will confess to having:

because I love mechanical keyboards.

Another option is a keyboard remapping utility and a gamepad:

with the really high-tech folks using some sort of customizable keyboard such as a Stream Deck:

(I’d really like to know of one which has close to the minimal number of keys so as to reduce the number which would be unused/blacked out (6 for cursor and Z up/down, 4 for jog increment (1–4) which are arranged so that the layout would make sense and not be prone to the kind of fat-fingered fumbling which has cost me a couple of endmills)

A pendant has been mentioned as one possibility for the expansion connector on the SO5 Pro/HDM’s Warthog controller (a light tower is the other thing I can recall having been mentioned) — maybe now that the 80mm VFD is available it will move into the development queue (I know nothing beyond what has been shared publicly here unless I’m testing and told to keep my mouth shut until release).
