Coin tray with curved bottom

How can I create a coin tray or a pocket that has a curved bottom to match the shape of a coin? Something that you could lay a stack of coins.

There are a few ways to approach this one. It largely depends on the size of coin and your machine.

You could just a slot with a bowl bit. That will be limited to the size of bowl bit. That’s the most straightforward approach though.

You could also use a smaller ball bit to define your curve.

You could also do a close approximation of the slot with a square endmill and scrape the cusps with a coin to bring it to shape.

If you just mean, how should it be modeled then it depends on your software.

But give more details of what you’re doing and folks will be able to chime in. My mental model is a poker chip tray.

Semi Circle Cigar Rest

I’ve looked around with no luck in finding a way to design a semi circle cigar rest into my cigar ashtray designs. On other projects I’ve done I’ve used a Forstner bit but I’m looking to develop the skill rather than buying the file and making someone else’s idea. I’d like to use the 3D feature in Pro rather than just creating a toolpath for a cove bit. I believe its a simple thing, I just need to learn to do it for myself. Anyone willing to pass on their knowlege?

Trying to create a slope profile, whats the easiest way

I’m trying to create a rectangle with a slope on it. Probably 5-10 degrees. Pro used to do this easily with the “Angle” option, but now I only get a pyramid when using angle. Anyone have some good tips?

Spoon Possible without CC Pro?

I’d like to make a wooden spoon and was wondering if that’s possible to do with the standard CC? Can it be done with a bowl bit? I don’t have one but can pick one up. Thanks!

Making a base for a model

Given a prototype base: [image] How to make it in Carbide Create? First, we have a pixel image with some dimensions: [F-86 base scan with measurements] We import that into Carbide Create: [image] using “Set Background”: [image] and adjust for size: [image] [image] It’s then a matter of drawing and toolpaths and so forth (we will try to do it w/o Create Pro, but will also show that). Yes I do have Carbide Create Pro. I’m looking at making a semi-circular tray for coins or poker chips.
