Unfinished first project on the Nomad, need guidance

@Cereza To reduce the run time on your part I used some of the MeshCAM options and then adjusted the Toolpath settings for maximum effieciency, however I do always recommend a test cut in scrap material if possible. I scaled the part in meshCAM to get it under the 3" Z limit. The Scale factor was .9 I used a keep out area to limit the machining area and run time. 3D Machining Aluminum

I saw an Aluminum test file on Instagrm and it looked like a nice challenge for the Nomad, so I machined a sample, and wanted to share the results and settings used to machine a 3d file into 6061. Here are the MeshCAM toolpath settings and some pointers to hopefully save you some time and cutters. These Brass Stamps were all done with MeshCAM - Feeds and speeds can be challenging, Carbide CREATE and MeshCAM have auto tool paths which are a solid place to start, but If your going to pick an RPM out of the air, pick 9500 The 3 phases is a good way to think about it, and you are correct there are 3 different tools you can use in one job, the last being the Pencil clean up, and that might work just fine in your case. Forgot settings

@timtom1 Looks like your parallel finish pass hasnt been run yet? The tooling marks look like 3D roughing. - Oh, I see, your “Stock to leave” setting in your roughing settings was set too low - Typically .01" is the default I believe. You need to leave enough material on the part for the parallel finish pass to be able to grab. On your Finish pass the stepover should be 1/10 the cutter for a fine finish.
